At the Elementary campus all teachers utilized resources from the Mountain View Virtues Binder. Inside this folder is a collection of virtue materials that are displayed throughout all classrooms. Materials such as the Almadina pledge, classroom posters, checklist and references to virtue based literature.
Research shows that when students are in a safe and caring learning environment, they tend to take greater academic risks as they feel more comfortable and ready to learn
Teachers are all on board doing their part and play a very important role as they:
- Act as a model and mentor
- Create a moral community in the classroom
- Teach values through the curriculum
- Encourage moral reflection
- Teach conflict resolution
Teachers & students also:
- Use encouragers, not drainers
- Demonstrate leadership through exposure and participation in our Almadina Peace Keepers program
- Receive ongoing learning through 2 minute mini lessons everyday
